Ron Westenhaver
Ron's career began as an apprentice carpenter in 1961. Seven years later, he began his own building company in the heart of Mid-Missouri building 114 homes by 1972.
Moving to Columbia, Ron continued building custom homes and began offering lifestyle living developments. He provided Columbia with its first townhome project, Sheppard Heights, and created the first planned condominium development, Foxfire, focused on housing for students of the University of Missouri
With Ron's success in residential developments, he decided to try his hand in commercial development. In 1976, he purchased a 70 year old train station and transformed it into a Columbia premiere restaurant and lounge, Katy Station.
Living on Columbia's south side, Ron recognized the need for a commercial office complex so the growing population could work where they live. With a development team, The Highlands, Columbia's largest residential planned unit development of 378 acres, was established. Ron's vision did not stop there, he continued to enhance the area by pioneering the development and construction along Columbia's Forum Boulevard with The Colonies, a commercial development.
In the 1980's, Ron took his distinctive development style to Lake of the Ozarks. While waterfront custom homes were the mainstay, Ron saw the potential for what would soon be the boom in Lake Ozark real estate, condominiums. Ron developed and built a host of condominiums, including: Eagle Point, Bentwood, Copper Ridge, and Somerset, still considered some of the most unique and hard to acquire pieces of real estate.
As Lake of the Ozarks began to experience a large growth in individuals wanting to retire to the area, Ron again saw the potential to improve his community and address this need. He did so by developing the lake's first retirement community offering an innovative age progressive lifestyle including 104 custom homes and assisted living facility including a club house.
Today, Ron, with his son, continues to create neighborhoods and communities, design custom homes, and develop commercial properties.
